EMP started its sustainability journey in 2021 with the initial step of compiling a Sustainability Report and continues to be committed to improving environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. The company has set various strategic initiatives, such as reducing carbon emissions, strengthening sustainability policies and international certification to achieve long-term targets. With a clear vision, EMP has set 2060 as the peak of its sustainability journey by achieving Net Zero Emissions , affirming its role as a responsible company that cares about a greener future.

2021 MRI Appointment for EMP Sustainability Report
In 2021, EMP appointed Moores Rowland Indonesia (“MRI”) as the company’s Sustainability Report consultant. This step aims to ensure the company’s transparency and accountability in implementing sustainability principles, in accordance with national and international standards.
2023 Human Rights Due Diligence and ESG Improvement
- EMP has successfully achieved a carbon intensity of 18 kg CO₂/BOE as part of its environmental management.
- The Company initiated its first Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) in three main business units by engaging FIHRRST, an independent institution that has competence in global human rights standards.
2024 ESG Score Improvement and Appointment of Whistleblowing Consultant
EMP engaged with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to improve the company’s ESG score by identifying opportunities for improvement in sustainability policies. In the same year, Deloitte was appointed as a whistleblowing consultant to improve the whistleblowing mechanism, reflecting the company’s commitment to good governance.
- The company’s ESG score improved with a “Very Good (1)” rating from Dun & Bradstreet.
- Sustainalytics’ ongoing ESG assessments remain ongoing, Achieved 5% reduction in toxic waste compared to the previous year.
2025 Environmental and Governance Strategy in 2025
EMP will take the following strategic steps as part of its commitment to sustainability:
- Contracting consultants for stakeholder mapping on newly acquired assets.
- Obtained ISO-14001 certification for environmental management of production assets.
- Hired a consultant for stakeholder mapping for newly acquired assets.
- Obtained ISO-14001 for producing assets
- Achieved “Medium” risk rating category by Sustainalytics
- Implemented an Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) and obtained ISO 37001:2016 certification

- Registered as a member of Women’s Empowerment Awards (WEPs) effective February 13, 2026.
- Maintains “Medium” risk rating category by Sustainalytics.

Commitment to Reduce Carbon Emissions by 20% by 2030
EMP is committed to achieving a 20% reduction in carbon emissions through various strategic initiatives, including:
- Replacing diesel ships with pipelines as an alternative transportation.
- Installing solar panels on the roof to harness renewable energy.
- Increasing the use of electric vehicles in company operations.
- Continuing the mangrove and tree planting program in forest areas.

Gender Representation Commitment
EMP is committed to increasing female representation to 30% in the company. This step reflects the company’s strong commitment to gender equality and creating a more inclusive work environment.
